There’s a new conversational enemy out there. It’s adding to the already eroded desert known as the common American English language. I know, I know … a good 99% of everything I’ve ever said is unintelligible. But come on, it ends here.
What the hell am I talking about? Just. Much as ‘black’ becomes the new ‘red’, ‘just’ has become the new ‘like’. In some particularly squalid regions of discourse, the two have even worked double duty in the same sentence. An example? I quote, “She’s just like so trying to be someone she’s not”.
It’s just totally maddening. ‘So’, you’re next baby.
